The Lodore Hotel Nr Keswick

Situated on stunning Derwent Water, the Lake District, the the Lodore Falls Hotel resort which includes an inviting bar, Brasserie, Deluxe Spa with Suites and Mizu Pan Asian restaurant. This contemporary spa hotel draws on Scandinavian design influences, a style that was important and meaningful to the client from the outset. Muted, natural timber finishes echo the cosy, warm setting of a contemporary luxury ski lodge.

Forming two buildings, the original hotel and the modern spa extension, each area of the hotel has its own unique personality with a common design thread running through. The main building mixes elegance with home comfort, the colours here are light and impactful then become more subdued and restful as the guest moves through deeper into the spa.
Today a luxury hotel this property was once the family residence of Thomas Stevenson, a pioneer in lighthouse construction and the father of novelist Robert Louis Stevenson. Built in 1802, the five storey residence was granted planning permission in 2009 to become a hotel and the three Georgian Townhouses were converted into open plan public areas opening in 2017.

We were engaged in 2023 to create a characterful, elevated & relaxed interior in keeping with the properties architecture and it's location in Edinburgh's historic centre. The reception & bar are now opulent & stylish in Marriott's signature colours to create a relaxed yet theatrical atmosphere befitting the hotels proximity to Scotland's largest theatre, the Edinburgh Playhouse. The restaurant is now a smart, classic brasserie with penny mosaic flooring, oak herringbone, glazed brick slips & distressed leather banquette.
